Collaborating with Members and Global Network to Respond to the Initiative
The Business Council for Sustainable Development (BCSD) Australia, a leading advocate for sustainable business practices and a network partner of the WBCSD, CDP, Business for Nature, and the We Mean Business Coalition, is pleased to announce its support for the Australian Government's consultation on the Open Government Partnership (OGP). This announcement underscores BCSD Australia's commitment to transparency, accountability, and collaboration in governance.
The Government's consultation on the OGP represents a significant step towards enhancing governance through citizen empowerment, anti-corruption measures, and technological innovation. BCSD Australia recognizes the importance of this initiative and will be working closely with its members and drawing on leading practices from the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) and its global network to respond to this consultation.
BCSD Australia CEO, Andrew Petersen said: "The Open Government Partnership consultation comes at a critical juncture when transparency, accountability, and collaboration are paramount. As highlighted in WBCSD's Reporting Matters 2022, the global shift towards sustainable reporting practices underscores the need for a unified approach. Business engagement in the OGP is not just timely but essential in fostering a national governance model that resonates with the sustainable development agenda, including the SDGs."
"Businesses today recognize the intrinsic value of sustainable governance and transparent reporting. BCSD Australia's contribution to this consultation reflects our commitment to bridging the gap between government, business, and civil society, creating a synergistic approach to sustainable development", said Petersen.
This agenda aligns with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions), reflecting a shared vision for effective, accountable, and transparent institutions.
We encourage all stakeholders to visit the BCSD Australia website at www.bcsda.org.au to learn more about our response to the OGP consultation and explore opportunities to contribute to this vital initiative.
